On May 8, 1902 the eruption of Mount Pelee killed 28 000 people and devasted the town of Saint-Pierre, remind us that it is one of the most dangerous French volcanoes.
"Murderous Volcanoes" is a comprehensive historical and scientific exhibition of the eruption of May 8, 1902. It addresses all aspects of the volcanism of our volcano such as the geodynamic context, the history of the formation of this volcano, the detail of the disaster of May 8, 1902 with a precise chronology of the various events relating to the eruption but also with anecdotes concerning the survivors, the eruptive specificities of this volcano, the monitoring of volcanoes.
The explanatory panels are decorated with photos taken after the disaster by Alfred Lacroix, a model of Mount Pelée, a glossary detailing the terms used in vulcanology.
